Have you heard that if you start going to a chiropractor you’ll have to continue for the rest of your life?
One common misconception of chiropractic is that you’ll need to come forever. We hear this often in our practice as new patients come in and share their concerns about trying chiropractic. Most people want to come get chiropractic care, but are concerned that they will need to come for the rest of their lives. While this is not true, I usually tell people that once you feel the great benefits of chiropractic, you’ll want to come for the rest of your life.
Typically, people come to get adjusted when they are not feeling well or are injured. However, that is not the only time someone should see their chiropractor. Think about it… do you only go to the dentist when you have a cavity? No, most people go regularly for cleanings to prevent potential issues. The same goes for your spine. You only have one… if you don’t maintain it, you could be at higher risk for problems in the future.
Once someone has been under chiropractic care, which has resolved their initial complaints, they often experience other benefits of the adjustments. These can include being more focused, feeling more relaxed, getting better sleep, and having more energy, to name a few. Once someone experiences these benefits, it’s hard not to want to get adjusted.
If you allow the body to be free of interference in the nervous system so it can function at it’s best, the body can then start to feel the way it was intended to feel and live. We are born to live a pain free life and enjoy ourselves, but sometimes the pain of built up stress doesn’t allow us to experience life the way it was meant to be. With regular adjustments, which help maintain a balanced spine, your body is able to heal from the pain and injury, and restore the rest of the functions to experience life at it’s fullest.
This is why maintaining your chiropractic care with regular adjustments is so beneficial and is commonly desired well after the initial phase of care. Adjustments help people not only function better, but allows people to understand and listen to their body better. When we are more in tune with how our body is feeling, we better understand when it needs to be adjusted. Maintenance care through chiropractic adjustments is a way to help your body stay balanced and functioning optimally. Who wouldn’t want that?
Maintenance care can look different for each person, which is another reason why we take care of each person individually. Each person works through their own process to help their body hold the adjustments for longer and longer periods of time. If you haven’t had your maintenance adjustment in awhile, maybe it is time to get in tune with your body and give us a call to get adjusted. We are happy to check and balance your spine so you can live your fullest life.
